Planting in non-productive lands is one of the attractive methods for bio-energy generation. In contrast to conventional fossil fuels combustions, these types of resources dispose exactly the same amount of carbon that stored during their life. Consequently, they are carbon-neutral. After a wide-ranging review of the literature in this study, a comprehensive examination of countrys potentials relating to energy forests’ development is done. Some of the most significant aspects like climate, technology and economic characteristics of energy forests’ implementation in the context of Iran are focused and at last, the levelized electricity cost of power generation from forest products is derived. This value for a 50 MW power plant is in the range of 15.1 to 16.2.
