A Review of Heat Pipe Technology: Challenges, Innovations, and Industrial Applications

Heat Pipes, as one of the efficient heat transfer technologies, have found a special place in various industries due to their high performance and efficiency, low pressure drop, and capability to function under diverse conditions. In this research, the structure, components, and factors influencing the performance of heat pipes, including the selection of the working fluid, temperature ranges, and wick design, have been investigated. Furthermore, advanced types, including loop, flat, and micro heat pipes, are introduced, and the advantages and challenges of each are analyzed. The results indicate that the correct selection of the working fluid, optimization of the internal structure, and development of materials with high conductivity play a crucial role in enhancing the stability and efficiency of this technology. These findings can form the basis for future research and the expansion of heat pipe applications across various industries. Finally, future directions for this technology are proposed, including novel designs, the introduction of environmentally friendly working fluids, and design optimization for expanded application in specific operating conditions and emerging industries.
