Abstract

Irans geographical location is ideal to get a significant amount of solar radiation energy annually. Due to the limited fossil fuel resources and environmental pollution caused by burning these fuels, optimal architectural design for using passive systems will result in reducing energy consumption in buildings. Considering the growing trend towards tall buildings in Tehran and their significant energy need, determining the appropriate form of these buildings to gain solar energy is examined in this paper. In this regard, the most common forms of the geometric model of tall buildings have been identified and the amount of received solar radiation on their façades within different months of the year are calculated and analyzed. Then by comparing the received radiation in cold and warm periods of the year the appropriate form is selected.
