Nowadays, demand for energy is one of the important and applicable issues in different countries. Energy demand is of great importance from the viewpoints devastating impact on the environment and in terms of economic costs. The household sector is the major consumer of energy study of the factors influencing the energy consumption can have beneficial results in terms of the application of appropriate policies in this field. Therefore, this study estimated the demand function for energy in household sector using data for 28 countries in Iran for the period from 2002 to 2011 which was obtained from the Iran’s energy balance sheet. The results of the study indicated that the demand function for energy in household sector is a reverse function of energy price, family population and cooling requirements; meaning that when energy consumption determinants increase the demand for energy decreases. However, other variables like real income and heating requirements have a positive effect on the energy demand in household sector.
