The use of wind energy is one of the methods of reducing energy consumption. In a moderate and humid climate, where humidity and precipitation are the most prominent features, creating air conditioning is essential for the residents.Balconies, in addition to the effect on the exterior appearance of the building, create functional spaces in the building that direct and manage the air flow.In this research, which was done with Design Builder software, it is tried to investigate three balcony depths, which include 0.9 meters, 1.5 meters and 3 meters for three different types of balconies (closed on one side, closed on both sides and closed on three sides) and compare them to find the most suitable form with the most natural ventilation in reducing mechanical energy consumption and to reach a suitable model in terms of balcony type and balcony depth in residential buildings in Rasht city.The main goal of this research is to replace high-cost mechanical systems with appropriate methods of climate design.The results of this research show that the amount of natural ventilation is improved by increasing the depth of the balcony. Also, compared to other balconies, the balcony on three sides closed on the south side of the building can reduce the amount of mechanical energy required for heating and cooling in the environment.
