In light of the escalating water crisis and the urgent need to expand renewable energy utilization, floating solar power plants have emerged as an innovative solution for the optimal use of water resources. This study investigates the technical, economic, and environmental feasibility of constructing a 10 MW floating solar power plant on the reservoir of the Taleqan Dam. The technical analysis indicates that the proposed system can generate approximately 19.477 million kWh of electricity annually, with a performance ratio of 85.5%. The economic assessment, based on electricity sales through Iran’s Green Energy Market, reveals an internal rate of return (IRR) of 33.75% and a payback period of five years. From an environmental perspective, the project is expected to prevent the emission of more than 17,943 tons of CO₂ and reduce annual water evaporation by around 341,000 kiloliters. The findings demonstrate that establishing a floating solar power plant at the Taleqan Dam is not only technically and economically feasible but also provides significant environmental benefits, thereby contributing to sustainable development and the efficient management of natural resources.
